424 Kitchen is a full-service restaurant tucked into the Pensador Mexicano neighborhood near Ciudad de Mexico’s Venustiano Carranza area, just a few minutes from the airport. Its atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and cozy, making it an inviting spot for families as well as small groups looking for a relaxed meal close to home or before or after travel.

The menu leans into hearty, well-executed Mexican and Argentinian-inspired fare, such as rib-eye steaks, arrachera packages (a family-sized favorite), and chistorra with potatoes. For something lighter or vegetarian, the vegetable stir fry or house salads with unexpected touches—think toasted sesame seeds and fresh fruit—offer fresh contrasts within the menu. There’s also a thoughtful wine-by-the-glass list and beverages like sangria or house-made lemonade paired nicely with the array of dishes.

Local diners appreciate the attentive service that feels personal without being overbearing. The kitchen tends to serve dishes with straightforward, clean flavors that feel genuine rather than overly fussy—a quality that reflects the neighborhood’s unpretentious vibe. The pace and space are comfortable for breakfast or lunch, as well as early dinners; the option of family-sized platters makes it welcoming for groups.

Among the dishes, paneggs, chilaquiles verdes, and grilled options like chorizo Argentino stand out as hearty choices that suit a morning or midday meal that won't feel rushed. Sweet finishes like the lemon pie or blackberry cheesecake provide a cool, flavorful balance to richer main courses.

424 Kitchen works best for those looking to savor a sit-down meal with a relaxed, homey feeling rather than anything loud or flashy. It’s the kind of place that fits naturally into daily life for locals and travelers alike—especially if arriving or departing through the nearby airport—with food that satisfies without complication and a setting that keeps things grounded in the neighborhood’s familiar rhythm.

The Petit Syrah was appropriately chilled and the wine service good, a surprise for this simple but tasteful spot. The salad was the best we have had in Mexico with toasted sesame seeds, strawberries and a house made dressing. The vegetarian stir fry for two with fresh medium spicy salsa and homemade corn tortillas was excellent. Try the lime pie if you have room. Chilled cake with custard layers. Yum!

2019 review: This restaurant near the airport stands out in an area lacking in good places to eat. It would blend in seamlessly in any hip/upscale Mexico City neighborhood. My chile en nogada was the best I've ever eaten. It was part of a paquete of a glass of wine, vegetable rice and pay de limón for dessert. 2020 review: Took me a year to return. No paquete was offered this time, so I opted for the Kitchen 424 burger. Good sized patty that was charcoal grilled (had the flavor anyway). It's a lot of burger; includes bacon, ham, cheese, mushrooms and all the garnishes. So disappointed that they use the same inferior bun that so many restaurants use. It starts falling apart after the 2nd or 3rd bite. I took the top off and ate the burger with a knife and fork. They were out of regular fries so I settled for the seasoned ones. Good, but not great. I would certainly eat here again, but stay away from the hamburguesas. 2022 review: Their pasta sauces pass the taste test. There's a chile poblano and a white sauce (could be a 4-cheese/alfredo mix). The cheesecake de zarzamora (with a scoop of ice cream on top) will satisfy your sweet tooth. Simply delicious.
